How to improve productivity and reduce costs in manufacturing

The EU-Japan Centre is calling for applications for the next World Class Manufacturing training missions in Japan, designed to help small and medium manufacturing firms improve productivity and reduce costs.

Leaders and managers from manufacturing firms can apply for this European Commission-funded programme for an in-depth analysis of Japanese manufacturing methodology.

Successful applicants will participate in the 5-day World Class Manufacturing training mission in Japan on Japanese manufacturing techniques including Kaizen, Lean, JIT and more.

Held twice a year, the training is financed by the European Commission and has been running for more than 25 years with over 800 EU managers benefiting from it since its creation.

The programme provides analysis of Japanese manufacturing methodology, lectures, seminars and panel discussions, presented by experts from Japanese industry, company and factory floor (Gemba) visits, as well as pre-mission preparation and post-visit reviews

The event takes place in Japan from 10-14 September 2018 and the application deadline is Thursday 24 May 2018.

The programme is open to leaders and managers working in European manufacturing companies, who have some knowledge of World Class Manufacturing and an engineering background. Attendees from SMEs can benefit from free entry to the training programme and a grant from the European Commission of 600 EUR towards travel and accommodation.
