£2 cap for Greater Manchester buses extended until September 2024
26 June 2023
The £2 cap on bus fares in Greater Manchester has been extended until September 2024, the region’s mayor announced on Sunday.
Andy Burnham also revealed plans to introduce combined tram and bus tickets in September of this year when Greater Manchester’s bus network comes under public control. The measure is expected to cut travel costs by up to 20 percent.
Mr. Burnham said: “People across the city region will be able to travel on unlimited buses and trams and they will only pay up to a certain level, which will be significantly cheaper than it is now.
“We want more people to move away from their car and commit to public transport and, by doing so, save money.”
