May Business Growth Lunch will close the Oldham Festival for Business – a month of events celebrating the successes of home-grown businesses, as well as showcasing opportunities that exist within Oldham for starting-up, growing a business and developing its workforce.
For this special occasion we have invited two guest speakers from very well established and successful local companies that have seized the opportunities to expand their reach beyond not only the boundaries of the borough but also the country.
Ian Taylor, founder and Chief Engagement Officer of event management specialists, Team Spirit will take the audience on his business journey, back down Memory Lane. He’ll share what it took to establish and scale up his company - from a team of two, operating from a small lock-up unit off Huddersfield Road, having had been awarded a Prince's Trust start-up loan… to a 80 staff strong business that designs and delivers more than 350 events per year to some of the UK’s best known brands from its 15,000sq.ft of office and warehouse space in Saddleworth.
Geoff Clarke, Managing Director of Tunnel Engineering Services – Oldham-based manufacturer and provider of specialist tunnelling equipment for both domestic and overseas construction markets – will detail his experience in securing a RGF Export Grant. Geoff will explain how the funds will enable the company to finance new world class premises that will facilitate the company’s growth through international expansion and consequently double its number of staff, including apprentices, over the next four years.
Both Ian and Geoff have been recognised for their ethos and passion to create and develop organisations that both support their employees and local communities by winning Oldham Business Award’s in Business Person of the Year category in 2014 and 2016 respectively.
You will also hear from Business Growth Hub and University Campus Oldham about the support available to you, your business and your employees.
