Founded in 2017, The Revenue Club now works with more than 300 golf clubs across the UK and Ireland, helping clients increase visitor revenue through dynamic pricing, digital marketing and data-driven decision making.

As the business expanded, founder Rob Corcoran recognised that industry expertise alone would not be enough to support the next stage of growth. Through a combination of Access to Finance, Innovation and ASCEND, the Hub's leadership and scale-up programme, The Revenue Club strengthened its leadership capability, accelerated innovation and built the foundations required to scale.

We spoke to Rob Corcoran, Founder of The Revenue Club, about the company's journey so far.

Turning Industry Expertise into a Business

How did The Revenue Club begin?

The Revenue Club was built on an insight we identified while working with golf clubs long before the business officially launched.

Back in 2011, my business partner Chris Knight and I were helping clubs generate online bookings through tee-time booking platforms. As we worked with hundreds of clubs, we noticed that the strongest performers were consistently using dynamic pricing and digital marketing more effectively than their competitors.

We realised there was an opportunity to help more clubs adopt those strategies and launched The Revenue Club in 2017. What started as a revenue management service has since evolved into a specialist business covering dynamic pricing, digital marketing, CRM and performance reporting.

One of the major turning points for both the industry and our business was the Covid-19 pandemic. As clubs shifted rapidly towards online booking, demand increased for services such as dynamic pricing and digital marketing, helping accelerate the next phase of our growth.

What have been some of the key milestones in your growth journey?

One of the biggest milestones was reaching 200 golf club clients. It took six years to achieve and gave us the strong foundation we needed to scale further.

Since then, growth has accelerated significantly. Over the last 18 months, we've grown from 200 clubs to more than 300, driven by reputation, referrals and the results we're delivering for clients.

Today, we work with more than 300 clubs across the UK and Ireland and have built the largest visitor golf data set in the sector, giving us unique insight into what drives commercial performance.

Building Structure for Scale

How did GM Business Growth Hub help the business grow?

As The Revenue Club continued to grow, I reached a point where I recognised that industry expertise alone wasn't enough to take the business to the next level. Through an introduction to GM Business Growth Hub, I started working with advisers who helped me step back and look at the business more objectively.

At the time, we had built a strong customer base and deep expertise within the golf sector, but we'd received very little external advice. Regular one-to-one sessions gave me the opportunity to be challenged, held accountable and encouraged to think differently about how the business could develop.

I came into the business with strong experience in marketing, account management and sales, but there were other areas of running a company where I knew I needed to develop. As the business grew, the support evolved alongside it. Access to Finance support helped us better understand financial planning, funding options and the requirements involved in scaling a growing business, while Workforce Development support helped strengthen the wider organisation as we expanded.

GM Business Growth Hub helped provide the structure, expertise and perspective needed to complement our industry knowledge, giving us greater confidence and a clearer roadmap for sustainable growth.

ASCEND: A Mini-MBA for Growth

How did ASCEND influence the way you think about the business?

Joining ASCEND came at exactly the right stage of our journey.

I'd reached a point where the business had grown beyond my own knowledge and experience. I've often described ASCEND as a mini-MBA because it exposed me to areas I hadn't previously explored in depth, including financial management, strategic planning, legal considerations and leadership development.

The mentoring element was particularly valuable. Working with an experienced business mentor helped us navigate key challenges, focus on the right priorities and approach growth with greater confidence.

The expert support delivered through ASCEND was equally beneficial. Sessions led by KPMG strengthened our understanding of financial planning and wider business strategy. For a business of our size, access to that level of expertise wouldn't ordinarily be easy, and it provided insights we could apply directly to our own growth journey.

The peer network was another major benefit. Being surrounded by founders from different sectors gave us fresh perspectives and exposed us to different ways of solving similar challenges. Often, the most valuable lessons came from conversations with business owners who had already faced problems we were only just beginning to encounter.

Innovation Driving the Next Chapter

How are innovation and technology shaping the future of the business?

Innovation is now one of the most important drivers of our future growth.

A key part of that is REPORTS.GOLF, our proprietary reporting platform. Over the last 12 months alone, approximately £75 millions of golf visitor sales have passed through the system, providing valuable commercial insight for golf clubs and creating a significant competitive advantage for our business.

As the platform expanded, we recognised that it needed a significant upgrade. Through support from the Innovation team at GM Business Growth Hub, we successfully secured innovation funding to support the redevelopment of REPORTS.GOLF.

Just as importantly, ASCEND introduced us to a network of founders and specialists, ultimately leading to our collaboration with Sprintworks on the project. Together, we're developing the next generation of REPORTS.GOLF, introducing enhanced reporting, automation and AI functionality that will improve efficiency for both our business and our clients.

Alongside REPORTS.GOLF, we've also developed Marshall, an AI-powered marketing platform that enables us to create personalised marketing content at scale, helping us support a growing client base without increasing headcount at the same rate.

Looking Ahead

What's next for The Revenue Club?

Our immediate priority is launching the next generation of REPORTS.GOLF while continuing to expand our use of AI and automation across the business.

We're also aiming to grow our client base from more than 300 golf clubs today to around 500 clubs within the next two years.
