Our Social Impact Series explore the community impact, measurement frameworks, and collaborative solutions for enhancing business contributions to society.

Attendees are strongly encouraged to attend the first session in the series, Introduction to Social Value, prior to attending Measuring and Reporting Social Value. A place on the latter workshop is not guaranteed without attendance at the former workshop.

Attendees can only participate in the Social Value Peer Group session after completing either of the earlier two sessions.

 

Meet your trainers

Nadir Sultan is a Social Value Specialist from the GM Business Growth Hub (Growth Company). Prior to his role as a Social Value Specialist, Nadir was working as a Senior Social Value Advisor at The Social Value Portal where he helped to embed the National TOMs framework into local authority procurement across the country. Nadir has vast experience in working with commissioners, procurement teams and businesses to understand, embed and think about social value in their everyday working lives.

Paul Vicario is a Social Value Specialist from the GM Business Growth Hub with 5 years of experience delivering social value support to construction companies. Paul has worked on public sector contracts across the North West and have supported bid writing teams with successful tender submissions

Social Value gets us to think about how our businesses can support society/communities and how our businesses can impact on current issues in society, to improve the planet for future generations.

This programme will explain how Social Value is becoming an ever-larger part of the evaluation criteria for public sector contracts and how to respond to this. The programme will be delivered over 2 days, covering:

  • Why is it important for your organisation?

  • Social Value Measurement & Reporting
  • Best Practice of Social Value in Greater Manchester
  • What is Climate change?
  • Building a decarbonisation plan

Attendees will gain an understanding of the definitions and legislation around social value and sustainability and why it is important that the idea of social value and sustainability is embedded into an organisation’s strategy. The attendees will also have an understanding of the various ways social value can be measured/reported through the most common frameworks. Attendees will learn how to put together a social value strategy/policy document and best practise case studies.

Attendees will gain an understanding of the various methods by which social value can be measured and the factors which should be taken in to account through this analysis. Attendees will learn how to put together an account of social value for their organisation (or contract) and best practise case studies of how social accounts can be written.

This peer group session is for organisation’s who have attended either the “Introduction to Social Value” or “Measuring and Reporting Social Value” workshop.

This peer group brings together businesses to collaborate, share best practice and discuss challenges around social value. The aim is to establish practical solutions to remove barriers in delivering, measuring and reporting social impact activity.

Participants will share their experiences through guided learning, whilst developing a network of peers to call upon to support long-term business resilience.
