Do you know how to access and tender successfully for contracts in the public and private sector?

When you consider that local authorities and businesses across the North West currently spend £6.5 billion a year on goods and services, they could provide a steady income and financial stability for qualifying local businesses. In fact, many local authorities actively want to work with local suppliers, and are keen to encourage them to bid for contracts.

That’s why the Business Growth Hub has developed ‘Textbook Tendering’. Following the introduction event on 15th March, partnering with Stockport Council and the Federation of Small Businesses, there will be a one day intensive workshop on 20th April, led by industry experts, covering all the information, skills and practical support a business needs to qualify and tender for contracts with confidence.

We’ll highlight what a good approach looks like, help you avoid common mistakes and show you how to find and register for this kind of work.

Join us on the 15th March at the Stockport Business & Innovation Centre to hear from Elizabeth McKenna, Head of Strategic Procurement at STaR (Stockport, Trafford and Rochdale Council Procurement) on how to develop successful tenders, and learn more about the upcoming workshop and how you can sign up for it. There will also be a chance to find out about other areas of business support available as well as networking opportunities.

Please note, priority will be given to Stockport based businesses and places are limited. To register your interest in attending the launch event on 15th March please click on the button below.

Workshop

Tendering for Contracts, 20th April, Stockport Business & Innovation Centre

Two half day training workshops, one focusing on public sector contracting and one on bidding for business within the private sector. Choose to attend one or both, held over one day.

Private Sector - Delivered by Emma Jaques of Onto The Page
Emma is an experienced, award-winning tender writer, who will deliver this session with the aim to help you to better understand and navigate your way through the tendering process. In this session you’ll be given real insight, from a procurement expert, into what does and doesn't make a credible bid for contracts.

Public Sector
Delivered by the procurement team from Stockport Council, this session will focus on what the people devising and deciding on bids are looking for. This session will be ‘hands on’ taking you through a standard tender document utilising the Council’s e-tendering software ‘The Chest’ and will also go into more detail about where to look for public sector contracts that could be of interest to your business.
