With strategic guidance and innovation funding, Stockport-based Health Connect Global is using AI to analyse and simplify the health and wellbeing data of patients, giving time back to clinicians and improving patient care.

New jobs created or in the pipeline
“Every 29 minutes, someone in a care facility stops caring to start recording data,” explains Dr Devan Moodley, a former physician and now health-tech innovator. “For 100 patients, that adds up to 1.8 million data points a year.”
The reality behind those numbers is that every extra form or field that a caregiver is required to fill in takes time away from caring. This adds to the pressure on already overstretched teams that are at breaking point, he says: “The problem for the care sector, and for the people who rely on it, isn’t regulation itself, as the rules are there to safeguard patients, but the fact is that the burden of evidencing compliance has become overwhelming. Staff are drowning in endless admin. Even regulators rarely review all the data, and look only at limited samples.”
Passionate about finding a way to help, and after helping organisations achieve the rare ‘Outstanding’ rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) on several occasions, Dr Moodley founded Stockport-based Health Connect Global. The company has drawn on specialist support of GM Business Growth Hub to develop an AI-powered platform designed to give time back to healthcare professionals. And, in just a few years, the company’s innovation has earned national recognition, shortlisted from more than 17,000 applicants for Best Health Tech Solution of the Year at the 2025 Health Tech Awards.
An AI-powered companion
As Dr Moodley told Forbes, “I’ve run many healthcare institutions. This idea came to me when I realised how the systems that healthcare companies were using to view medical records were clunky and time-consuming for doctors. And the data shared with clients wasn’t impacting lifestyle habits.”1
He adds, “Instead, patients want the dots to be connected between visits and systems. Just like Netflix remembers your viewing history and predicts your favourite shows, they want their healthcare to be smart enough to bring together information so that more time can be spent receiving personalised care from professionals.”
Dr Moodley’s vision was for technology that kept compliance running quietly and efficiently in the background, enabling care teams to focus on people rather than admin. When advancements in artificial intelligence made that possible, Health Connect created what it calls the world’s first care intelligence system, a real-time, AI-powered companion that unites patient records, incident reports, and risk data in one place.
“At its core is a clinical decision-support module that automates documentation and enhances transparency in care planning,” says Dr Yousef Taktak, Health and Life Sciences Specialist at GM Business Growth Hub. “By analysing clinical guidelines, patient histories and psychosocial data, Care Intelligence produces clear, auditable plans that clinicians can trust. The system reduces duplication, improves consistency and helps meet the NHS and Care Quality Commission’s goal of truly personalised, outcomes-based care.”
‘What every innovator needs’
To accelerate commercialisation and move Care Intelligence closer to market, Dr Moodley turned to GM Business Growth Hub’s Innovation Service. The first phase of collaboration included a £22,500 grant, covering 58 per cent of a £41,000 project in 2024. This early support enabled the company to finance the development of the AI-driven decision-support module that powers personalised, transparent care planning within the Care Intelligence platform.
In the second half of 2025, the company received a further £46,550 grant towards a £66,500 project, finalising steps towards commercialisation of Care Intelligence, including preparation for MHRA Class IIa medical device submission to certify the platform’s compliance with UK medical-software standards.
The collaboration also involved strategic insight and business planning: “My role was to help ensure Health Connect’s vision and direction aligned with its technology development, help refine their commercial strategy, and strengthen the company’s investment readiness,” says Dr Taktak. “The result has been that their development timeline has been cut by about six months, which is what we’re all about.”
Dr Moodley agrees this input made a clear difference: “We’ve had huge ambitions since day one, and innovation always comes with risk. GM Business Growth Hub has given us both the structure and the confidence to move forward faster. They’ve challenged us, supported us and provided honest feedback. That kind of relationship is what every innovator needs.”
GM Business Growth Hub has now been supporting Health Connect for over three years, with strategic guidance throughout its early-stage development and scale-up journey.
Clever tech for the real world
Together, Health Connect’s R&D investment of more than £400,000 and the Hub’s support have accelerated the company’s progress, protected its intellectual property and secured a valuable first-mover advantage in a competitive, fast-growing health-tech market.
Since beginning their journey with the Hub, Health Connect has seen impressive financial growth. This strong performance enabled the company to secure £400,000 in venture capital investment from South Africa.
In January 2026, Health Connect hosted the highly successful Care Leaders’ Summit in London. Within just two weeks of launching their platform at the event, 500 providers had already registered, representing 4% of the entire UK social care market.
To support this rapid market adoption, the company has increased staff numbers by six full-time equivalent roles, with a further 12 positions planned over the next 12 months. This will take the team to more than 40 employees as the platform continues to scale.
Looking ahead, Health Connect expects a 200% revenue increase in 2027, with turnover forecast to exceed £4.5 million by 2028.
Social impact and future ambitions
For healthcare providers, the potential impact of the new product is substantial. Health Connect’s technology helps carers get back to looking after people, by reducing the time wasted on admin and bureaucracy, helping them to remain compliant, and supporting them to make proactive care decisions, not fight fires. Early testing indicates the system could save around 2,000 clinical hours a year in a 300-bed facility.
But despite their success to date, Health Connect’s story doesn’t end here. The founder, Dr Moodley, remains passionate about supporting developing nations. He hopes that one day he can offer selected parts of the platform free of charge to third‑world countries to help improve basic care standards.
Health Connect’s story shows how expert guidance and targeted investment can help innovators move faster, overcome barriers and deliver solutions that make a real difference.
