Drawing on our 900 internationally renowned academics and our world leading research facilities we work with hundreds of large and small businesses across the NW.

Our academics often work on a consultancy basis providing expert advice in fields such as energy, low carbon technologies; the built environment; civil engineering; material science; digital technology and business management.

Much of our applied science and engineering research is carried out in partnership with local companies where we will work to develop the most appropriate funding packages to support key business issues such as product development and business improvement. Knowledge Transfer Partnerships are a popular way of supporting academic/industry collaboration.

We actively support our students to engage with local companies. For example, within the Business School the ‘Unite with Business’ programme will fund a final year undergraduate or postgraduate to undertake projects for local businesses such as website development, graphic design or marketing support. More in depth projects are a key component of the MBA and a number of MSc courses.

There are range of activities to link students and graduates with potential employers; vacancies are advertised on line; we hold recruitment fairs and our Careers and Employability Team provide a full support package to recruiters assisting with interviews, short listing and organising assessment centres.

We also offer an extensive range of CPD courses via our dedicated company Salford Professional Development which offers a wide range of courses but with a particular emphasis on the University’s teaching and research strengths such as the built environment and energy; business and law; media and digital; education; and health and social care.
