Greater Manchester hospitality businesses are being urged to join the new Green Hospitality Network, part of Bee Net Zero – the campaign to make Greater Manchester the easiest place to be a net zero business.
Supporting Restaurants, Bars, Cafés, Venues, and Hotels to take sustainable action
The Green Hospitality Network has been established to help Greater Manchester's restaurants, bars, cafes, venues, and hotels become greener and reap the rewards.
Greater Manchester is home to some of the world’s most exciting hospitality businesses, from world-class venues and attractions, Michelin-star restaurants and boutique hotels to vibrant and diverse cafes and bars. Every one of these businesses has a part to play in helping Greater Manchester to achieve its target to be net zero by 2038.
The Green Hospitality Network forms part of the Bee Net Zero campaign, drawing upon expertise from key partners including Marketing Manchester, Green Economy, Pro-Manchester and Open Kitchen.
Free support and networking event for local businesses
The Green Hospitality Network provides access to funded business support and online resources, running quarterly free events that address specific opportunities. To date, this has included saving money through energy efficiency, introduction to sustainability, with the next session on 22 July looking at minimising food waste.
Victoria Braddock, Managing Director of Marketing Manchester, said: “Greater Manchester has a commitment to be net zero by 2038, and our new Visitor Economy Strategy has goals to make Manchester the most sustainable city in England by 2030 and a Top 40 city in the Global Destination Sustainability Index. This new initiative will help support local businesses and organisations in their own sustainability journey.”
“Consumers are increasingly conscious about their own environmental impact and are choosing to support organisations that align with their own values. The Green Hospitality Network provide the resources so businesses can learn how to save money, enhance their reputation, and gain a competitive edge by committing to reducing carbon emissions, minimising waste and improving their sustainability practices. The smallest action can make a difference, and Marketing Manchester encourages any business in the sector to get involved and help Greater Manchester become more sustainable.”
