Discover "How to Become a Game Changing Leader" in a special event hosted by GM Leadership Hive and University Academy 92

Fostering an understanding and forging stronger links between the student talent pool and businesses in our region, GM Leadership Hive will hold a special collaboration event with University Academy 92 (UA92) on 22nd March 2023 (Wednesday) to discover "How to Become a Game Changing Leader".

Greater Manchester is renowned worldwide for our first-class universities and talented graduates ready for the local workforce. This event will bring together GM’s business network, local communities, and colleges/students to lead the way and shape the future - allowing a better transition from a student’s life to the world of work.

Through panel discussions, the business leaders joining the event will have a chance to explore the key drivers for attracting future talent, including corporate social responsibility; social value; a wider sense of purpose, business ethics, sustainability and vision.

Students and business leaders will have access and insight into the avenues, pathways and real world advice on how to become a new era leader. The session enables local businesses and university students to enjoy a morning of networking and gainful insights with keynote speakers, leadership panels and Q & A’s.

“With the ‘new normal’ after COVID, the world is becoming increasingly competitive and constantly changing,” said Dawn Duggan, Head of People, Skills & Talent of Business Growth Hub.

“Nowadays, social values and leadership are closely related. Influential leaders can create a positive social impact through their decisions and actions. Leaders who prioritise social value over financial returns are often in a better position to attract and retain talent, as employees want to work for a company that is making a positive impact on society, which creates a sense of purpose and meaning in their work, leading to increased productivity and job satisfaction.”

Gareth Smith, Executive Director of Student Life and Strategy at UA92, said: “UA92 is an institution founded by Game Changing Leaders to make higher education accessible to all.

"It’s imperative that students have opportunities to connect with a broad spectrum of businesses and organisations during their time at univeristy, helping to nurture talent and widen employment options. We’re excited to host this event with the Growth Company to inspire and develop the next generation of leaders who will help shape the Greater Manchester of the future."

Joined by GC Social Value Advisors, The People, Skills and Talent Team, Skills for Growth – SME Support, Enterprising You and GM Good Employment Charter, Bridge GM, inspiring local businesses, and university representatives, the event will be an excellent way to understand how to become a game-changing leader, ensure attendees leave with insightful and practical takeaways.
