Transforming the festive season for families by connecting businesses with communities

Christmas is all about giving and sharing, and you must be connected before you can start sharing. Here is a story of connecting the local business with the community. Through connecting local businesses with communities, the Business Growth Hub (BGH) is glad to help put a smile on children’s and families’ faces in the Salford community during Christmas.

With the aim of creating a local community where people of all ages and situations feel included and know that they can contribute and realise a deep sense of belonging, Oasis MediaCityUK Church and Community Hub is actively engaged with the community of Salford. In partnership with the Business Growth Hub, the Hub host a bi-monthly business-to-business networking group which provides the platform for connecting local businesses to the school to provide career advice and opportunities.  It allows local businesses to explore what business support is available to them as well as making connections with other local businesses to strengthen our local business base here in Salford.

Counting King, a national chartered tax practice & R&D tax specialist in Salford, is one of the businesses that has attended the business networking event before. They have become a supporter of the Hub and previously donated food to the Hub’s Community Food Store. With Christmas looming, Counting King has donated three cars loads of games, toys, gifts and food, all for the Hub’s Christmas appeal and food store, which will make a massive difference to families in a relatively underprivileged community at Christmas.

“We would never have had this without the business networking events,” said Hannah Miller, Hub Leader. “Thank you for helping to make this happen. It’s an unbelievable amount of gifts and food - just incredible!”

“Business, as one of the building blocks of the community, should always find a way to connect with the community to achieve inclusive growth,” said Andrea Hill, the Salford Account Manager at the Business Growth Hub. “We are delighted to connect businesses and communities together and more so to be able to do this at such a financially challenging time for many families.”
