Insider’s Power 100 list announced

A host of influencers, investors, innovators and industry voices from across the North West have secured places on Insider's Power 100 list, which this year has been produced to shine a light on the region's business leaders.

The likes of Sir Howard Bernstein, George Osborne, Andy Burnham and Sir Richard Leese have often dominated the annual ranking. However, for 2019 they have been moved to a separate list of the region’s 25 leading politicians, public figures and academic leaders.

Juergen Maier, chief executive of Siemens, tops the list. He is synonymous with the Growth Company’s Made Smarter programme and is also chairman of the Digital Catapult Board, with his influence spreading far beyond his own company.

Vikas Shah also makes the Insider Power 100 list. Vikas is CEO of Swiscot Group, a diversified international trading business, a venture investor in numerous businesses and a co-founder of 53 Degrees North. Vikas is also one of the headline speakers at the GC Business Growth Hub’s Venturefest North West, the region’s biggest annual innovation expo and conference.

Appearing alongside individuals like Andy Burnham and Richard Leese is Mark Hughes, chief executive of the Growth Company, the Hub’s parent organisation. Mark has been a leading figure in promoting UK trade and investment across the public and private sector for over 25 years, and in post at the Growth Company since 2013. The Growth Company is a social enterprise which exists to enable growth, create jobs and improve lives across the North West.
