PwC Scale has arrived in Manchester

Key partner of the Business Growth Hub, PwC, launches programme to support fast growth and innovation in Manchester.

In February 2018, PwC is launching their growth programme for ambitious technology businesses, Scale, in Manchester. The programme aims to support companies to scale sustainably by connecting them with established businesses and investor networks to drive commercial opportunities. It’s the latest of a number of regional PwC Scale programmes with another programme also due to launch in Yorkshire in February.

Iwan Griffiths, the PwC North West Chairman said:

"Manchester is synonymous with supporting fast growth, innovative companies and I'm delighted that PwC is hosting this programme early next year. Using our strong links with North West corporates and linking them to local start-ups enables us to help these companies get the vital support and ideas they need to be successful."

Participants on the 12-week programme will gain access to a series of bespoke masterclasses to support the development of their growth strategy as well as the opportunity to pitch to a number of high profile executives, investors and key decision makers.

Nigel Howlett, UK Digital Private Business Leader explains:

We’re bringing together fast-growing and ambitious scale-ups with the world’s biggest brands in a dynamic environment which allows both sides to learn from the other to build commercial opportunities.

Alumni of PwC’s Scale programmes had raised £60 million in equity before joining and have since gone on to raise a further £20 million, winning over 70 pilots with corporates, enabling them to scale up and achieve the next level of growth. One successful alumni (Autumn 2016) of the Scale programmes is Manchester based data analytics firm Peak, who recently secured £2.5 million in their latest funding round.

Richard Potter, the Founder of Peak said:

The programme has accelerated our commercialisation by at least 6 months. They have put us in front of a fantastic group of mentors and companies, which has helped us refine and develop our proposition in a rapid and intensive fashion.
