Manchester Met’s Graduate Talent Internships offer recent graduates the chance the to take a paid internship with a UK business that will enhance their CV and help them to stand out from the crowd in a competitive graduate labour market.

The graduate intern(s) will be contracted and paid by the university for up to 20 hours per week.

The internship will be for a period not exceeding eight weeks, commencing early January 2018.

The internship must be appropriate to a recent graduate, providing valuable career inspiration and work experience to help them develop key skills and achieve their future career goals.

Partner organisations to this scheme will benefit from free access to some of the brightest and best graduates in the UK today, who will value the intensive injection of graduate-level expertise that you can provide.

Eligible internships

Graduate internships can cover a range of different areas and activities, but they must provide opportunities for the graduate intern(s) to acquire and develop key skills through graduate level work.

Training and support

It is expected that partner organisations will provide an induction to the graduate intern(s) that includes an orientation, discussions about working patterns, and outlines health and safety policies within the workplace and any offsite locations where the graduate intern(s) may be required to work.

If the graduate intern(s) require any additional equipment (for instance due to disability), the university is able to assist with this where the adjustments are deemed to be reasonable.

Health and safety

Partner organisations will be required to sign acceptance of the university's health and safety expectations prior to the internship commencing. The university expects you to treat the graduate intern(s) in the same way as your own employees in respect of their health, safety and welfare.

It is essential that partner organisations provide a fire safety induction for their graduate intern(s) on the first day of their internship. The graduate intern(s) must be informed of where to exit in the event of a fire, where the evacuation points are located and of any other fire safety procedures at the partner organisation or their place of work.

Insurance

The graduate intern(s) will be covered by Manchester Metropolitan University insurance whilst undertaking their internship. However, you may wish to review the terms of your own insurance policy and satisfy yourself that appropriate cover is in place.
