Connecting start-ups with mentors: Tech Manchester

Manchester’s tech ecosystem will move up a gear in October when dozens of early-stage start-ups are connected with their ideal mentors.

Tech Manchester’s Meet the Mentor event on Wednesday 4 October will bring together promising tech businesses and more than 60 newly trained mentors, who have volunteered more than 300 hours of mentoring a month.

The event at UKFast will give start-ups the opportunity to meet up to eight prospective mentors with the skills and knowledge they require – and then to choose the mentor that best meets their mission.

They embark on a six-to-12-month journey during which they will identify and explore shared goals and objectives.

Backed by UKFast CEO Lawrence Jones, Tech Manchester exists to offer mentoring and infrastructure support to early-stage tech start-ups, helping realise Andy Burnham’s ambition of cementing the city as a major European digital centre.

Tap into Manchester’s tech ecosystem and learn from the failures and breakthroughs of those who have been there and done it.

Tech Manchester is working alongside other initiatives, such as those offered by the Business Growth Hub, to complement their work. At this event, the Hub will be on-hand to identify and work with prospective start-ups that have not yet qualified for funding into the Tech Manchester programme to help them with their business readiness.

Together we have a shared vision for the future of tech in Manchester.
