ATG UV Technology Ltd design and manufacture chemical free UV and water treatment packages from their advanced facility in Wigan. The business has operated for over 35 years, and supply internationally to the leisure, pharmaceuticals, oil & gas, chemicals and food & drink sectors.
Frans Conradie, Operations Director at ATG UV, approached the GC Business Growth Hub for support growing the business. He said:
“We had a target to boost sales by £250k in 2018, but the supply chains we operate in require the highest standards in our processes. The ISO 9001 accreditation had changed, and we needed to implement the new 2015 standard to ensure supply chain compliance. We did not have the resource to do this internally and approached the GC Business Growth Hub for help.”
Frans met with Phil Anders, a specialist Manufacturing Advisor at the Hub to talk about their growth opportunities. Phil said:
“ATG UV Technology are a busy growing business, and didn’t have the resource to deliver an ISO 9001 implementation project. In order to meet the demands of new and existing supply chains it was vital the business had support to update their processes and systems, introduce audits, management reviews and KPIs, whilst ensuring the buy-in of their staff. I recommended that they apply for a grant from the Manufacturing Growth Fund which would provide 30% of the cost to bring in an external consultant Project Manager for this.”
Phil worked with Frans to develop a project brief, apply for £3k towards the project value, and consider providers.
The business was awarded their grant in April 2018 and started work with their Project Manager.
“Receiving advice from Phil about the project was enormously helpful. With his guidance we developed a project which considered all our needs and brought in the best provider to deliver this. It was quick to apply for the Manufacturing Growth Fund, and we were in a position to achieve ISO 9001:2015 by the September 2018 deadline.”
“I would recommend anyone that needs to update their processes but are struggling to find the time to deliver to consider the Manufacturing Growth Fund.”
