Greater Manchester firms invited to manufacturing forum

Manufacturers across the city region are being encouraged to attend the Summer Engineering and Manufacturing Forum on 15 June 2023 hosted at pioneering new facilities at the University of Salford.

Delivered by the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, the Summer Engineering & Manufacturing Forum will provide an opportunity to network with industry leaders and hear from a line-up of expert speakers including ex-CEO of Siemens UK, Prof Juergen Maier CBE.

The free event will be held at the University of Salford’s £65 million Science, Engineering & Environment Building (pictured), a pioneering new hub for discovery and innovation.

Attendees will be given an exclusive tour of the cutting-edge facilities on-site, including the Maker Space, Robotics and Acoustics Labs – the latter of which houses one of the quietest rooms in the world. All of the new facilities have been designed to facilitate collaboration between students, academics and local businesses.

The University is also home to the recently-opened £16 million North of England Robotics Innovation Centre (NERIC), which will serve as a hub for supporting SMEs to develop and implement robotics and automation into their business.

Richard Fitton, Technical Director of the University’s world-famous Energy House 2.0 project will also be speaking at the event, along with Donna Edwards, Programme Director of Made Smarter.
