Running every two years since 1959, the MATADOR conference is one of the world’s longest running manufacturing conferences, attracting academics and industrialists from around the globe.

This year’s three-day event will be jointly delivered by the University of Manchester and AMPI. The latter recently secured £22.6 million in government funding to drive cutting-edge manufacturing innovations at its planned centre of excellence in Rochdale, and will be officially launched at the conference.

Day one will be held in person at the University of Manchester to mark AMPI’s launch. The schedule will comprise a series of distinguished speakers from industry and academia, including representatives from GAMBICA, CNC Robotics, BAE Systems, Renishaw and others. There will also be an Industrial Forum for exhibitors.

Days two and three will be held virtually, consisting of up to 70 presentations across various sessions on themes such as new machine concept technologies, intelligent robotics and automation, manufacturing processes and systems, product design and digital technologies.

Some of the applications featured will include aerospace, automotive, medical, mould and tool making, construction, digital devices, jewellery and watch making.

The event will run from 15 to 17 September. Registering to attend day one entitles you to attend the second and third virtual days. To register, visit www.ampi.org.uk/events/matador-2021
