Greater Manchester’s landmark PROGRESS21 event on 23 September will set the stall out for all the support available to the city region’s residents and businesses as the UK builds back from COVID-19.

PROGRESS21 will see businesses meet in Manchester Central for Greater Manchester’s largest face-to-face event of its kind since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Supported by Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham and a host of business organisations - including the CBI, FSB, Chamber of Commerce and pro-manchester - the event will set out a wide-ranging programme of support across three functions:

  • PROGRESS21 Careers: a jobs fair ‘plus’, promoting thousands of career, training and personal development opportunities
  • PROGRESS21 Business: an opportunity to gain specialist insight and practical support for critical issues facing businesses post-COVID, including financial challenges, workforce development, digital transformation and understanding Net Zero
  • PROGRESS21 Global: a conference bringing the business and leadership community together to promote Greater Manchester on the global stage, attract investors and reignite the visitor economy.

Announcing PROGRESS21, Andy Burnham said:

“This event is a brilliant opportunity for individuals to progress their career prospects, businesses to unlock potential for growth, and Greater Manchester to expand its global potential. PROGRESS21 will showcase our ambitions to become a world-leading city-region with a drive to become Carbon Net Zero, innovate in the digital sector, and accelerate our economic growth as the region recovers from the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Across three main themes – Careers, Business and Global – this practical event will allow us to address the key issues facing our region, explore future skills to help kickstart careers, build insight into growing local businesses, and position Greater Manchester on the global stage to attract visitors and investors.”

Among the sessions at PROGRESS21 Business will be a special panel discussion on Artificial Intelligence in Manufacturing. Hosted by GC Business Growth Hub’s Head of Manufacturing and Resource Efficiency, Anne Campion, a distinguished panel of speakers will explore how SME manufacturers can use AI to their advantage.

The experts will discuss the rise of AI, its implications for manufacturing and how its application can drive greater efficiency and improve business practices in SMEs.

SME manufacturers will also be able to learn about the range of other of support available to them through the Hub’s specialist Manufacturing Service.
