Machinery auction platform among region’s ‘most exciting companies’

An online platform helping manufacturers to auction spare parts has been recognised as one of Insider Media’s ‘Most Exciting Companies' in the North West for 2020.

The annual list names 30 companies who are not necessarily the biggest or most successful, but are “those with potential and those challenging the status quo”.

Among the list for 2020 is Machine Compare, an eBay style online auction platform that allows manufacturers to buy and sell machinery.

Founded in 2016 and based at MediaCity in Salford, Machine Compare already has big clients such as Smurfit Kappa onboard.

Founder and CEO Ben Findlay believes manufacturers are sitting on a £1 billion “goldmine” of spare parts that are going unused. He said:

“We are extremely pleased to be recognised amongst the North West’s biggest players. With major plans to disrupt the market this year with new product lines and a digital transformation on the way, the future is certainly looking bright for Machine Compare.”

Also recognised on Insider’s list is one of GC Business Growth Hub’s manufacturing success stories, M&I Materials. GC Business Growth Hub helped the Trafford-based manufacturer access innovation vouchers to team up with scientists at Manchester Metropolitan University, who helped to provide new analytical insight into the company’s ceramic disk products.
