Liverpool’s Sensor City launches guide to IoT
3 December 2019
Sensor City, a global hub for the development of sensor technology, has launched a new guide offering manufacturers practical advice on how to adopt Internet of Things (IoT) technology.
The free 2020 Guide to IoT Adoption has been created in collaboration with industry and academic experts for businesses looking to achieve growth and unlock efficiency by adding sensors and IoT to products and processes.
The guide is specifically aimed at the SME community, where the understanding of IoT and its advantages is lagging behind the wider manufacturing sector. It provides a summary of what IoT technology can do, as well as practical advice from industry experts on issues such as skills, infrastructure and cyber security.
The launch coincides with Sensor City’s new ‘Space to Innovate’ membership package, which offers businesses access to state-of-the-art laboratory facilities for product development and prototyping.
Dr Joanne Phoenix, Interim Executive Director at Sensor City, said:
“Digital technologies present huge opportunities for businesses – particularly when it comes to igniting growth. Sensor and IoT-based technologies have many benefits for businesses whether being incorporated into products themselves or integrated into an organisation’s operational delivery.
“However, as a leading hub specialising in both technologies we know that businesses can often struggle with migration. We hope the guide will give businesses the practical advice they need to start on the right road to successful IoT integration.”
