Manchester Graduate Talent programme open for business

The University of Manchester’s Graduate Talent 2019 programme offers free support for businesses looking to recruit graduates this summer, with a strong pool of engineering talent looking for work.

The Manchester Graduate Talent scheme provides local companies with access to high-calibre graduates keen to stay and work in Manchester after graduating.

More than 200 graduates were placed through the scheme in 2018. Job titles for engineering graduates included Manufacturing Engineer, Mechanical Design Intern, Automation Engineer, Electronic Design Engineer and a wide variety of related marketing, administrative and business development roles.

The programme is delivered by the University of Manchester Careers Service, which has a dedicated employer engagement team that includes sector and small business specialists. The service offers free support with diagnosing skills needs, writing job descriptions, setting appropriate salary bandings, arranging advertising, marketing to the right audience, shortlisting candidates and arranging interviews.

Jerzy Basiurski the Managing Director of EAB Associates, a supplier of waterproofing and building materials in Altrincham which placed a graduate in 2018, said:

“The Manchester Graduate Talent Programme is an excellent way to bring in a new graduate and we were especially pleased with the helpful and friendly way in which the whole administration process was handled. It relieved us of much of the workload and stress associated with advertising.

“Furthermore, the selection of candidates that [the programme] offered after [the] sifting process was truly excellent.”

The programme is targeted at full-time vacancies, which can be permanent, short-term or internships.  For more information, visit www.employers.manchester.ac.uk.
