SMEs invited to ‘bridge the graphene gap’

Greater Manchester SMEs are being invited to an exclusive event in Manchester on 20-21 March to discover more about the wide range of industrial applications for graphene and 2D materials.
The free, two-day ‘Bridging the Gap’ event at the Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre (GEIC) in Manchester is open to Greater Manchester SMEs who want to find out more about the 2D advanced material graphene and explore how it could be used in their future projects.
Manchester is deemed the ‘home of graphene’, a 2D form of carbon that is many times stronger than steel yet incredibly lightweight and flexible, electrically and thermally conductive but also transparent, and one million times thinner than the diameter of a single human hair.
The potential uses of graphene and other 2D advanced materials cross a wide range of sectors and potential applications, including lightweight composites, energy, inks and coatings, membranes, and production.
Recent examples of applications developed in Manchester include more durable rubber composites and elastomers, and natural fibre composites that could outcompete synthetic materials.
The two day event will cover Manchester’s state-of-the-art labs and expertise, how the application of graphene could open up new global opportunities, and opportunities for funding, grants and other support.
