Manufacturers recognised in FSB North West Awards

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has announced the 2019 North West winners of its Celebrating Small Business Awards, which recognised three of the region’s manufacturers.

Now in their second year, the FSB Awards saw businesses from across the North West compete for eleven award categories. Winners now go through to the FSB’s UK National Finals in May, where they will face other regional finalists from across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Two Cumbrian food manufacturers were recognised with awards. Kendal-based Kendal Nutricare Ltd won International Business of the Year, having exported its infant formulas and other products to countries all over the world.

Another Cumbrian firm, Hawkshead Relish, won the Business & Product Innovation Award for bringing its new range of pickles, preserves and relishes to market.

Meanwhile, Lancashire company Tac-grid Ltd won the Start-Up Business of the Year Award. The Leyland-based start-up designs and manufactures tactile solutions for visually impaired people, including an innovative new grid system to replace existing pavement tiles at pedestrian crossings.

Chris Manka, FSB North West Regional Chairman, said:

“We congratulate all the finalists on their excellent year in business in a competitive range of categories. Our winners now go on to the finals in London where we hope to see their successes recognised on the national stage. We are sure they will do us proud.”
