New Masters Apprenticeship for Manufacturing Leaders

The Manufacturing Institute and Lancaster University Management School are joining forces to offer a Masters level apprenticeship aimed at manufacturing leaders.

The Manchester-based Institute has used more than 20 years of expertise working with manufacturers across the UK and around the world to help create the new qualification with Lancaster University’s Management School.

Opportunities to develop talent in small and medium enterprises

The new level seven programme will be open to employees from large businesses under the new Apprenticeship Levy and also open to SME employees with 90 per cent of the cost covered by the government.

The programme will start in October this year and will be taught through block release and evening tuition with a focus on applying everything learned back in the workplace.

Said Neil Ralph, Director of degree apprenticeships at Lancaster University Management School:

“This fantastic programme gives people an opportunity to combine academic and vocational learning. It is perfect for practicing managers to underpin their experience with a masters degree from one of the top ten Universities in the UK.

“This is about strengthening the partnership between Lancaster University and The Manufacturing Institute in delivering this exciting new programme. We are very proud to be leading the way in offering masters level apprenticeships.”

New knowledge for the workforce

Mark Leeson, Operations Director for The Manufacturing Institute said:

“We’ve had a long and successful relationship with Lancaster University Management School and we’re delighted to be working with them on this new programme under the Apprenticeship Levy.

“It opens the door to middle and senior manufacturing leaders to apply their learning back in the workplace which can only be good for the whole sector.”

The Manufacturing Institute and Lancaster University Management School will continue to offer their prestigious three-year MSc in Manufacturing Leadership programme as an alternative study route.
