Preparing your manufacturing business for Brexit

Do you import goods from overseas, operate in international supply chains or export goods? If so, there are some significant changes ahead for when the UK leaves the Customs Union.

Whilst trade deals and timelines are to be negotiated, there are still preparations that you can start to make for your business. Preparing a plan to manage Brexit now, no matter the final outcome of negotiations, will ensure that you are able to service your customers and continue with business as usual.

The Manufacturing Growth Fund will be delivering a series of free workshops across the North West in partnership with the local Growth Hubs. These events will offer you with an outline of what Brexit means for small and medium manufacturing firms and provide you with tools to start preparing your business.

Who should attend?

Manufacturing leaders and managers from small and medium businesses who are responsible for strategic development, financial management and/or sales and marketing.

What will I leave with?

Tools to start preparing your business planning
Access to local expertise to help you with business planning, supply chain management and/or sales and marketing strategy.

Event agenda

Each event will include a presentation from a local supply chain expert, who will provide guidance on the implications of leaving the Customs Union. This will include details of tariffs for export and import, plus a look at other barriers for business including rules of origin, regulation and standards.

This will be followed by a panel session including representatives from the Department of International Trade and the Manufacturing Growth Fund, to answer your questions on the topic.

Finally the session will close with a workshop for you to start to make preparations for your business. There will also be an opportunity to speak with Manufacturing Business Advisors who can let you know about funding which can be used to make these preparations.
