Would your business benefit from:
Broadening your international strategy?
Identifying barriers in international markets?
Support with accessing new international markets?
Our new programme helps Greater Manchester businesses to open up new international market opportunities. We match international students from across Greater Manchester’s universities with your business’ unique needs.
GC Business Growth Hub will help to match students seeking a placement with the qualifications and requirements of the business. This careful matching will ensure that both business and student are maximising the benefits of the placement.
Each placement will last for between 3-6 months, with students working a maximum of 20 hours per week.
Aims & Benefits of the project
A similar programme run by Ayva Pharma highlights how important foreign business students can be to UK companies branching out overseas.
They were expanding into Africa, but the lack of cultural knowledge and language skills was a significant barrier.
Realising that bringing in a national speaker would help them to break into the African market, they hired a part-time Ugandan student studying for a master’s in corporate and financial law at Derby University.
Since taking on an international student, 20% of Ayva Pharma’s sales now come from Uganda. They’ve benefited from the expertise allowing for clearer communications, and the experience in understanding the cultural ways of life abroad to better meet the needs and expectations of their clients.
