A Swedish-owned company that helps businesses meet safety and environmental requirements for everyday handling and use of chemicals has established a presence in Manchester for its scalable iChemistry solution.
Since 1999, Intersolia has provided customised solutions for managing chemicals in a safer and more environmentally-friendly way through consultancy and a web-based chemical management system (CMS) which businesses can use to keep tabs on their chemical products.
As well as providing a host of different benefits, such as a product register, the complete safety data sheet management and risk assessments, the iChemistry platform also helps to identify environmentally-friendly substitutes and helps businesses to become Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) compliant.
Starting in Sweden, the company now operates in Germany, Norway, Denmark, Serbia and the UK, and has a significant customer base spread across many more countries worldwide.
“iChemistry already provides more than 100,000 users worldwide with information about their chemical products and we aim to grow this element of the company here in the UK,” explained Anita Staley, UK business development manager.
To help raise the profile of iChemistry in Greater Manchester and beyond, Intersolia was referred to GC Business Growth Hub’s green technology and services programme by a local company already receiving the Hub’s help.
Intersolia became a member of the Hub’s virtual Low Carbon Network - putting it in contact with around 250 other companies in Greater Manchester’s green technology and services sector - and is now receiving support to identify which UK markets to focus on.
Vicky Wilding, green tech advisor at GC Business Growth Hub, said: “Intersolia has a great product that can be used in lots of diverse markets, which ironically can make it a challenge to promote.
“We’re helping the company to narrow down to the markets with the biggest opportunities, so it can focus on specific marketing and sales strategies for these areas. We have also referred Intersolia to our digital team, who will be able to help make sure its website is ready for future growth.”
Anita Staley added: “GC Business Growth Hub’s support has been hugely beneficial in helping us to formulate our approach to the UK market, and we’re already planning to take on two new members of staff here in Manchester as a result of our expected increase in sales.”
