Endo Enterprises is one of just six UK firms to win a regional Shell Springboard 2018 award for its low cost, energy saving fuel additive for wet heating systems.
The Shell Springboard competition picks six companies each year with outstanding innovative low carbon business ideas. Each of the six regional winners receive £40,000 no-strings attached funding from Shell and compete in a national final for a further £110,000.
Endo Enterprises has been named one of the six 2018 winners for its EndoTherm additive, which can be introduced into any wet heating system to reduce energy consumption by up to 15 per cent.
The additive has low installation costs, causes no system downtime, is effective for 7-10 years and pays back in less than a year.
In 2017, EndoTherm was piloted by the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) in three of its branches and cut gas usage by nearly a third.
It works by changing the surface tension of fluid in heating systems, which increases thermal contact and heat transfer.
“To be a Shell Springboard regional winner is a great honour for our small business”, said Ben Sallon, managing director.
“We are delighted that it has been recognised by the judges for its innovation and energy saving capabilities and we hope this will in turn see wider appeal to UK and export energy consumers.”
