A green technology installer in Stockport is celebrating a successful first year in business, having benefitted from specialist low carbon sector support from the Business Growth Hub.
KAST Energy Solutions Ltd, which began trading in July 2014, is a family-run business with extensive experience in the environmental building industry.
Its comprehensive service offering for clients includes solar thermal and PV panels, wind turbines, biomass boilers, energy monitoring services, voltage optimisation, infrared heating and LED lighting.
“Our main aim is to reduce our clients’ carbon footprint and energy bill, and we offer an extensive range of technologies to ensure that we can offer the best solution for each customer”, said, Adrian Thomas, project director at KAST.
To help KAST establish a foothold in Greater Manchester’s rapidly growing low carbon and environmental goods and services sector, the Business Growth Hub’s specialist Green Growth team worked with the company throughout its first year to identify barriers to growth and develop an action plan of support.
As a member of the Growth Hub’s Low Carbon Network, KAST is part of a growing community of environmental tech companies in Greater Manchester receiving regular sales leads and opportunities to network with like-minded companies.
Amy House, low carbon sector advisor in the Green Growth team, also worked closely with KAST on the ground to develop a business strategy and raise the company’s profile.
Support included providing market intelligence on the most popular technologies recently employed by businesses in Greater Manchester to help inform KAST’s business strategy, facilitating partnering opportunities with Siemens Energy and other installers in the supply chain, and providing sales leads from Green Growth's sister resource efficiency programme.
In summer 2015, KAST installed a 50kW rooftop solar PV system for Hughes Safety Showers, a fellow Stockport company receiving support from the resource efficiency programme. The system generates almost a third of Hughes Safety Showers’ electricity needs and will save the company £10,000 per year.
With a pipeline of future installations on the horizon, KAST expects to continue to grow its business and plans to add to its workforce in the near future.
“KAST Energy Solutions has achieved a lot in its first year of trading and its future looks bright despite some difficult market conditions in the UK renewable energy sector”, said Amy. “As part of our role in supporting Greater Manchester’s transition to a low carbon economy, we will continue to work with KAST into the future to help raise their profile and generate new sales.”
Kes Scott, operations director at KAST, added: “We aim to give our customers peace of mind at all times, and that’s what the Business Growth Hub in turn has given us. It’s great to know that our industry is being supported so that we can make as much impact as possible in reducing energy bills and emissions.”
Kast Energy Solutions will be exhibiting alongside the Business Growth Hub at the Greenbuild and Buildings & Energy Efficiency Expo 2015 at Manchester Central on 10-11 November.
