Several businesses from across the North West region have been shortlisted in the 2015 Love Energy Awards, launched by energy tariff comparison site, Love Energy Savings.

Several businesses from across the North West region have been shortlisted in the 2015 Love Energy Awards, launched by energy tariff comparison site, Love Energy Savings.

The inaugural awards scheme aims to recognise businesses that endeavour to save money and reduce their impact on the environment by curbing their energy consumption on a consistent basis.

Applications were received from businesses of all sizes across the UK, citing measures ranging from installing LED lighting to implementing comprehensive CSR policies.

The final shortlist for the awards includes two North West companies that have worked with ENWORKS to improve their resource efficiency.

Bluebell Fitted Furniture

Bluebell Fitted Furniture Ltd is taking impressive steps to improve its energy efficiency by installing a waste wood heating burner, energy efficient LED lighting and solar PV at its site in Trafford, Greater Manchester.

Following support from the Business Growth Hub’s Green Growth service (delivered by ENWORKS), these measures are set to save the furniture manufacturer £18,300 a year.

Newlands Adventure Centre

Newlands Adventure Centre in Keswick, Cumbria, also received support from ENWORKS in 2012 to help save £4,200 per year through a range of resource efficiency measures such as fitting pipe insulation and radiator controls, providing efficient driving courses for its drivers and implementing a business-wide energy management policy.

Both companies were shortlisted in the ‘SME Saver’ category.

Other shortlisted North West companies include Bolton Market, Lancashire-based Landmark Environmental, Manchester-based Adactus Housing Group and Wigan-based Galleries Shopping Centre.

The award winners are due to announced on 13 July 2015.
