The UK’s first indoor mountain bike park, which is to be built in Greater Manchester, has partnered with a supplier of eco-friendly bike maintenance products to promote sustainability in the sport.
Dirt Factory is planning to turn a warehouse in Greater Manchester into a permanent indoor biking facility featuring bike trails, skills zones and jumps.
While fund raising and site construction is ongoing, the project has announced a collaboration with UK-based Green Oil Ltd, which produces green bike maintenance products such as chain lube, bike cleaner and other award-winning products.
Unlike most bike maintenance products, Green Oil’s range is free of petrochemicals and the synthetic lubricant PTFE and instead uses a number of plants and natural ingredients.
‘Passionate about green business’
Daniel Makin, director of Dirt Factory, said: “All of us at Dirt Factory are genuinely proud to be partnering up with Green Oil. In return for their support we will be helping to promote Green Oil products to our community and enabling Green Oil to reach new customers.
“Being a green business is something we are passionate about. We will be incorporating green build-ing techniques and other sustainable solutions within the Dirt Factory operations from the outset.
“The collaboration also allows us to educate younger people when delivering current school and community programmes before the indoor facility opens.
“Partnerships with other green-minded businesses such as Green Oil further strengthen the positive impact we can have on the environment.”
Simon Nash, founder and director of Green Oil, added: “Purpose-built [biking] places are great – we need more of them. Dirt Factory will give young people a positive activity to be involved in. Plus, we’ll be supporting the sport that the Green Oil range is used for.”
