Deadline approaches for energy efficient buildings awards
The inaugural Buildings and Energy Efficiency (BEE) Awards, set up to celebrate projects and products in the built environment at the Greenbuild Expo in Manchester, closes for applications on 30 June 2015.
The BEE Awards, previously known as the Greenbuild Awards, will showcase outstanding projects, innovative products and examples of best practice that are promoting energy efficiency in new builds and refurbishment projects across the UK.
The awards are unique in that actual energy performance data is used to judge entries rather than predicted energy use at design stage. This ensures that the awards reward genuine building performance excellence.
Categories
The awards are free to enter and are open to both the private and public sectors, covering seven categories:
- Non-domestic retrofit
- Non-domestic new build
- Domestic retrofit
- Domestic new build
- Innovative product
- Breakthrough project
- Behavioural change
Entries will be judged by a panel of experts from industry and academia, including Kerry Mashford, chief executive of the National Energy Foundation, and Rob Pannell, managing director of the Zero Carbon Hub.
Previous winning projects have included refurbishments to supermarkets, libraries, housing associations and schools.
Greenbuild
The awards ceremony, to be held at the Palace Hotel in Manchester city centre on 10 November 2015, will coincide with Greenbuild Expo 2015 at Manchester Central, one of the UK’s largest conferences for environmental construction and sustainable building management.
Both the BEE awards and Greenbuild represent an effective platform for energy efficiency suppliers looking to maximise industry exposure. For more information on how to enter for an award or attend the event, click here.
