Cool Tech Air Conditioning in Bolton has refined its business and marketing strategy following support from Greater Manchester’s Business Growth Hub, with sustainability now a key part of its offering.
Cool Tech started out in 2007 as an air conditioning consultation service but has now grown into a specialist supplier, installer and maintenance provider, offering clients the highest quality HVAC systems and full technical support.
Having recently relocated to larger premises, the company sought support from the Business Growth Hub in 2017 to help manage growth effectively.
One previously untapped area for the company was the potential energy efficiency benefits of its services.
“If managed poorly, HVAC can dramatically increase a building’s energy consumption and carbon footprint, which is increasingly being taken into consideration during building design and construction”, said Daniel Dickinson, low carbon sector advisor at the Business Growth Hub.
“Good design, suitable commissioning and effective maintenance and management can therefore result in big wins in terms of energy efficiency and carbon emissions - something which Cool Tech can play a big role in.”
Along with wider support delivered by the Business Growth Hub’s growth and digital teams, the low carbon sector team helped Cool Tech review its procurement and tendering strategy to reflect the sustainability interests of Tier 1 facilities management and construction companies.
This included specialist masterclasses on tendering and how to market low carbon products, as well as free subscription to the Hub’s Low Carbon Network, which provides a weekly tenders bulletin and an opportunity for members to raise their profile in the green tech sector.
‘Tapping into sustainability’
Richard Smith, manager at Cool Tech, said: “The Business Growth Hub’s support has been vital in helping us tap into the sustainability side of our service offering. We’ve been able to attend networking groups with other green tech companies and even had the opportunity to speak about sustainable approaches to building design at an event with Bolton Council.
“We’re also now investigating the potential to diversify into other green technologies, such as energy storage, to accompany our existing portfolio of energy saving heat pumps and air conditioning units.”
As a result of the Business Growth Hub’s full package of support, Cool Tech is looking at a successful future, having secured its largest ever contract win and created two new jobs in 2017, with a further two expected this year.
