Thank you for your interest in our Executive Development Programme (EDP) event.
Powerful and effective leadership has one key component – inspiration. No wonder inspiration from the leadership team brings about better employee motivation, performance, engagement and deep commitment. If the leader is successful in communicating the organisational purpose with passion and transparency, then he/she has actually established the inspirational culture within the organisation. Others will follow suit.
The business world is changing more dramatically than ever before: technology, globalisation, competition, have reshaped the business environment. To deal with such a complex and dynamic environment, organisations need experienced people with well-developed leadership abilities and acumen. Developing leadership and management skills is crucial to company survival, growth, innovation, and productivity improvement, helping employers to shape and maximise the impact of their workforce and resources.
The ScaleUp Institute identifies leadership capacity as one of the five key gaps holding back greater business growth in the UK, reporting that 65% of scale-ups feel leadership development was vital or very important to their growth. A vital aspect of building leadership capacity is through accessing local support available to connect and collaborate with like-minded peers who know what it is like to grow a business. Local support through Growth Hubs, local leadership programmes, other local business leaders and peer to peer networks is seen as the most vital support available.
To address the above and to support our business leaders in GM, we have brought to you a day of leadership development to provide you with inspiring tools and techniques to engage and motivate your employees as you lead them to greater success as individuals and as an organisation.
We are inviting select participants from previous EDP programmes to celebrate the successes achieved so far, and to take part in two masterclasses from renowned behavioural strategist and leadership consultant Lily Newman to help you to unlock your leadership potential.
The all-day event will take place at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate on 26 September 2018. The agenda is planned as follows:

Without Vision, People Perish - Shaping your company’s roadmap for success
Do you have:
- A strong idea of what you’d like your people to achieve today?
- A broad idea of where you’d like to take them tomorrow?
- A vague idea of the values which will underpin performance, shape the behaviours of your team and drive every decision your business makes?
Or maybe your organisation has all of the above in great detail but you’re not sure how to get your mission, vision and values off the poster on the wall, out from the back of the filing cabinet and into the behaviours and intentions of your people to make them ‘live’.
This ‘shaping your company’s roadmap for success’ masterclass will give leaders some top tips for establishing or redefining their organisation’s foundations and engage their staff in turning their vision into a reality to build business success.
What will you learn?
Lily will help you to consider how to ensure that your company’s mission, vision and values are:
- Emotionally compelling, behaviourally directive and strategically clear
- Reinforcing your company’s intended identity
- Providing the foundations for your desired culture
- Helping to align and engage your staff in the delivery of your growth or performance intentions
- Sitting at the heart of every decision you make
“Vision without an Action is Illusion. Action without a Vision is Confusion.”
This masterclass will help you to ensure that you are building a business on concrete foundations and ensures that your people are all pulling in the same direction!
“If your company doesn’t have a clear goal, you’ll never get there.”
Highly Successful Leadership Habits - The Neuroscience Behind Becoming a Better Leader
It’s a fact: old habits die hard, unless you understand the neuroscience behind behavioural change and get focused on obliterating habits that destroy your motivation and performance. Too many leaders never reach their potential because they insist on delaying change until they’ve finished their to-do list and emptied their inboxes. If this is you and you want to find out how to develop high performance habits, this masterclass is for you.
Behavioural Strategist Lily Newman, is Managing Director of Morgan James Consulting and the Head of Leadership on the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Programme. She has worked with thousands of global, national and SME business leaders, helping them to ‘tear up their life limiting scripts’ and embed positive behaviours that drive business growth and create high performing teams, whilst finding the fun in the process.
What will you learn?
Lily will share with you:
- How to recognise the habits that are holding you back and use the power of ‘cues, routine and reward’ to change negative old habits into positive new ones
- The principles of ‘habit stacking’ and how small changes can make a big difference
- 7 critical leadership habits that will help you to improve your performance and that of your team
- The neuroscience of behavioural change to help you to reduce stress and lead a business you love
Luckily, advances in neuroscience have given us a greater understanding of how to ditch our low pay-off activities and put the effort into becoming more focused, productive and even happier leaders.
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.”
This masterclass will help you to recognise that, if you want to change your culture, your people and your business, the best place to start is with changing you!
