The Federation of Small Businesses is the UK’s leading business support organisation, with 200,000 members nationally and 4,700 in the Greater Manchester and North Cheshire region alone.

While the organisation continues to grow, there is recognition efforts are required to make it more relevant to those younger people setting up in businesses today. To these ends the FSB will later this month launch a new scheme called ‘FSB Connect’, the aim of which will be to encourage and deliver the next generation of business activists to the organisation’s ranks.

The FSB’s Greater Manchester & North Cheshire region will have up to £2,000 a year to deliver ‘Connect’ activities across the area. New young ‘Connect’ members can use this to fund anything from networking sessions to social events, including educational workshops or master classes on any subject relevant to a young business owner under the age of 35, as well as outdoor social activities such as go-karting.

If you own and run a small business or are about to launch one, or you currently teach a business course at university level and would like to learn more about the Connect initiative, you are invited to attend a special launch event being held at Business Growth Hub offices in central Manchester on Monday, September 28th.

The evening runs between 6-8pm and will provide a brief introduction and overview of FSB Connect’s aims and objectives, and help those interested in being involved get a clearer picture of how the scheme could work for them with their involvement.

To give those in attendance a taster of the kinds of events the Connect funding would cover, the evening will also include a 45 minute master class from accomplished social media trainer Sam Flynn, on how to harness the power of Twitter to market your business better. All attendees can expect to take away some handy Twitter tips and skills. A buffet will also be served from 6pm.

Sue Barnard, Business Growth Hub Relationship Manager will also outline how the Business Growth Hub offers tailored expert business support to ambitious companies across Greater Manchester, from start-ups to those that are established and looking to expand.
