A Lean business is one that maximises value and minimises waste by focusing almost exclusively on the needs of its customers. Typically associated with manufacturing, Lean thinking is becoming increasingly popular across other sectors as more and more businesses prioritise cost reduction in today’s challenging economic environment.

How to Become a Lean Business

Part of the #HereForBusiness campaign, our Strive & Thrive online workshop on ‘The Lean Business’ aims to help business owners in Greater Manchester understand Lean concepts and how to apply them to their business.

Subjects covered include:

  • How to recognise the different types of waste in any business
  • Common tools you can use to take the cost out of a business
  • Understanding what a value stream is and how this can be used to improve processes
  • The definition of a learning business
  • How to maintain quality when cutting costs
  • Why people management can be the key to profitability
