In October 2021, the Government released the Heat and Building Strategy. It outlined forthcoming plans that aim to decarbonise both domestic and non-domestic buildings and is predicted to support as many as 240,000 skilled green jobs by 2035. Heat decarbonisation presents great opportunities for national, regional, and local supply chains. Alongside some adjustments to building standards to accommodate energy efficiency requirements, the strategy introduces schemes such as the £450m Boiler Upgrade Scheme with the purpose of instilling confidence in the market. 2022 will also see an allocation of £270m towards the Green Heat Network Fund to incentivise the heat network market and stimulate the uptake of low-carbon heat pumps.
