A LANDMARK IN-PERSON EVENT FOR GREATER MANCHESTER

Igniting career prospects, business opportunities and global ambition.

As we complete the Government's Covid Roadmap, now is the time for us to support each other and look to the future. On the 23rd September, The Growth Company presents PROGRESS21 – one of the first post Roadmap large-scale in-person events of the year.

The event is supported by a significant public, private and third sector partnership encompassing the GM Mayor, GM LEP, business representative organisations (CBI, FSB, ICAEW, GM Chamber, IOD, NWBLT and pro-manchester), DIT, BEIS and DWP along with local partners such as Citizens Advice and numerous individual companies.

PROGRESS21 will take over Manchester Central, offering a wide-ranging programme of support to the residents and businesses across Greater Manchester:

  • PROGRESS21 Careers:  a jobs fair 'plus', thousands of available jobs, training opportunities and a wide range of advice and support to propel your career.
  • PROGRESS21 Business:  offering on-day specialist insight and practical support for your business’s recovery and future growth.
  • PROGRESS21 Global:  bringing Greater Manchester together to promote our city region on the global stage to attract investors and visitors.

This event is a brilliant opportunity for individuals to progress their career prospects, businesses to unlock potential for growth, and Greater Manchester to expand its global potential. PROGRESS21 will showcase our ambitions to become a world-leading city-region with a drive to become Carbon Net Zero, innovate in the digital sector, and accelerate our economic growth as the region recovers from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Across three main themes – Careers, Business and Global – this practical event will allow is to address the key issues facing our region, explore future skills to help kickstart careers, build insight into growing local businesses, and position Greater Manchester on the global stage to attract visitors and investors.

A wide range of advice, guidance and on-the-day practical help via specialist organisations will be available, as well as the opportunity to meet employers with thousands of current vacancies.

PROGRESS21 Business: a series of presentations, seminars and workshops centred on critical business issues including: increasing sales; dealing with finance challenges and raising growth capital; developing your high performing and inclusive workforce; achieving digital transformation; and understanding Net Zero.
In addition, there are sessions on the future of the GM economy with GM Mayor and LEP Chair, a panel of economists and the contribution and opportunities for Social Enterprises.

PROGRESS 21 Global: delivered the Growth Company’s Marketing Manchester and MIDAS services, will bring together the business and leadership community from across Greater Manchester, to unite behind global campaigns and support recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Focused on ambitions to regain Greater Manchester’s position as a successful global powerhouse, the event will discuss plans to progress sustainable and inclusive economic recovery; attracting business and capital investment, as well as reigniting the visitor economy. The day will also see us explore some of the opportunities and challenges as we move forward to a new Future of Work.

The GM Mayor, Andy Burnham, and LEP Chair, Lou Cordwell, will be joined by leading business figures to learn about Greater Manchester’s economic vision and global plans.
