Greater Manchester has a long history of creating innovative, exciting food and drink products, from Vimto and parma violet gin to the Manchester Egg and Eccles Cake. Outstanding food and drink produced in Greater Manchester is enjoyed by consumers across the UK.

We’re passionate about brilliant food and drink at the Hub, too. We’re looking for sparkling producers based in Greater Manchester who want help to grow their business. Our Recipe4Success programme is designed to do just that.   

Whether you’re a brewery, bakery, soft drink, ice cream or other producer, or a restaurant, deli or cafe looking to commercialise a great product – our Recipe4Success programme’s got something for you. 

Previous programme graduates include Didsbury Gin, Zymurgorium, Raw Bake, Amal's Pantry and Four Sisters distillery.

Recipe4Success is a comprehensive programme of support for Greater Manchester-based SME food and drink businesses* (Pre-start and Early-stage businesses – 0-3 years) with the aspiration to grow.

Take your business to the next level with our tailored series of food and drink specific workshops and networking events designed to help you overcome barriers and succeed.

The programme culminates in an exciting opportunity to pitch your product to a panel of buyers, ranging from hyperlocal to nationwide chains. You will get the opportunity to practice your pitch and present to a number of industry experts (as well as your peers) for a critique, prior to submitting it to the buyers. This will be done remotely and in line with COVID-19 safety guidelines.

The programme will be delivered by webinar on ZOOM and will be supported with electronic resources, so can be accessed at home or in the office – whatever works best for you.

Future Proofing your Food & Drink Business 24.02.2021 - 3 x 2 hr blocks (09:00-11:00)/(12:00-14:00)/(14:45-16:45)**

Helping you to get into a “futures” mindset to help generate sustainable growth and resilience planning. Exploring various techniques to better prepare your business for the future in order to grow and prosper.

Keeping it legal: regulation in food and drink 04.03.2021 (09:30-12:30) **

Essential information to ensure you are compliant with the laws and regulations around food safety and labelling is a crucial early step to ensure the success of your business. This session will be delivered by expert environmental health officers.  They will help you understand what to expect when they inspect, provide tips and advice and ultimately help you ensure your products are safe for your customers.

We will also cover guidance on allergens and what needs to be included if you are looking to export your products.

Boost your brand 11.03.2021 (09:30-12:30)**

Branding is key in getting your name out there - Showing the importance of brand and how to measure the brand effect.  Learn how to present your story through strong branding.

Grow your sales 11.03.2021 (13:30-16:30)**

Developing practical skills with which to approach and successfully communicate with decision makers.   Build confidence in getting your message across concisely to potential buyers to win that sale.

Introduction to DIT – 18.03.2021 (13:00-14:00)

Opportunity to discover new markets through export with advice from International Trade Advisors.  Hear from a food and drink business about their journey into exporting.

Your slice of the profits 25.03.2021 (09:30-12:30)

Acquire an insight into the various forms of funding available to support the launch / growth of your business and understand the key requirements of successful funder approaches.

Plus explore which accounting software to allow you to work on your business anytime, anywhere simply and easily.

Life’s a pitch: presenting yourself with confidence 22.04.2021 (09:30-12:30)**

Learning to promote yourself and your business in any situation, prior to recording your pitch to the buyers.

Helping you to polish your pitch 06.05.2021 (09:30-12:30)**

An opportunity to share your pitch with your peers and a number of Food & Drink industry experts. Based on this feedback, you will then be in a position to record the final version of your pitch to be sent to our panel of buyers

Strategic Planning for Sustainable Growth 12.05.2021 (9.30am-11.30am)

In conjunction with EY, GC Advisors will co-facilitate an action-orientated workshop focused on the customer, this covers customer experience, products, markets, channels, marketing, sales and pricing. Utilising the EY 7 Drivers of Growth framework we will run a 2 hour facilitated workshop, to share insights around what we are seeing other market leading organisations doing to achieve sustainable growth. You will finish this workshop with a clear action plan to deliver on your strategic goals.
