As one of just three ‘trailblazer’ areas in the UK, Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) are working collaboratively with government to develop our local industrial strategy. It will be a joint plan for creating exciting, well-paid jobs in new industries, and upskilling and increasing competitiveness in our high employment sectors. It will set out how we will build on our unique strengths and opportunities, and capitalise on the creativity of our people, to create a digitally-enabled, green city-region.

With Clean Growth being one of the four grand challenges identified by the Industrial Strategy, the insight provided by Greater Manchester’s Low Carbon sector will be invaluable in shaping the Greater Manchester Strategy. An online consultation is now open which can be accessed here.

GMCA will be on hand at the final Working Group of 2018 to provide an overview of the Local Industrial Strategy, outline key questions and hear feedback from the Low Carbon Network Members on how best to support growth within the sector.

The Working Group will also provide a great opportunity to engage and collaborate with colleagues across the green technologies and services sector, sharing best practice and partnership opportunities. The Working Group will be followed by the Business Growth Hub’s Recharge event, looking at productivity support and providing a chance to network with GM businesses from all sectors.
