Greater Manchester’s inaugural Green Summit in March saw over 43 business leaders from the hospitality sector lending their support to the “Plastic-Free Greater Manchester” campaign.

The campaign targets GM businesses across the hospitality sector, however, these businesses will often encounter barriers in implementing resource and energy efficiency measures. Businesses can lack the knowledge and faith to implement changes which they perceive as having risks, whether that be in terms of cost or inconvenience to the business.

Marketing Manchester is working with the Green Growth team to help our members break down these barriers by inviting you to join us at our Resource and Energy Efficiency Briefing.

The briefing will cover a range of quick and easy actions to enable Marketing Manchester members to reduce their energy, transport and waste costs and to identify and manage business risks around environmental compliance and constraints. The briefing will offer practical information, tools and support to achieve efficiency improvements which are of no or low cost. The briefing will also provide support to help you improve your tender prospects through enhanced environmental credentials and performance.

Green Tourism Awards, Trip Advisor Green Leaders, Global Sustainable Tourism Council Certified, just some of the recognised environmental schemes that offer a structured programme of accreditation and recognition for businesses operating in the travel and tourism sectors.

The session will provide an overview of processes to achieve such accreditations and how these can enable you to enhance your reputation, increase bookings from like-minded travellers and better manage your operating costs and increase profit. The support offered by the Growth Company’s Green Growth team compliments these initiatives by focusing on practical steps that you can take to reduce your energy, water and waste.

The session will also cover how members can benefit from applying lessons learned to their wider Greater Manchester-based SME supply chain and the associated positive reputational CSR benefits.

By attending this briefing you will receive information to help you:

• save money
• increase profits
• help Greater Manchester meet its carbon reduction target
• increase brand reputation, be seen as an ethical and environmentally-conscious business
• identify like-minded businesses

The Business Growth Hub is funded through ERDF and Greater Manchester Local Authorities. They provide independent advice on resource and energy efficiency measures and can provide access to individual support, consultancy and grant funding where applicable.
