Improving the lives of people across Greater Manchester affected by or at risk of developing cardiovascular disease

Business Growth Hub would like to invite you to an event to help solve Greater Manchester’s cardiovascular disease (CVD) crisis. Greater Manchester has the UK’s highest rate of premature death from CVD with diabetes being a major contributor. It is predicted that a quarter of residents will develop diabetes in their lifetime.

There are a number of system-wide initiatives working to tackle this problem including the Health Innovation Manchester/ Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership Healthy Hearts Programme. This programme has been designed to take a whole system approach to supporting clinical commissioning groups address variation in CVD health across Greater Manchester. Despite these efforts, new solutions are needed.

This event will bring together clinical leaders, academics, life science SMEs and global players to find collaborative solutions which can be implemented into the health system.

Discussions will focus on the following areas:

  • Identification of risk-factors in populations.
  • Identifying new techniques to indicate an increased risk or the early onset of diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
  • Improving diagnostic techniques to see underlying biological processes in the body.
  • Wearable technologies and remote monitoring supporting personalised medicine, and self-management.

There will be follow up after the event to accelerate the adoption of any collaborative solutions identified and deliver the maximum benefit for Manchester’s population.
