Are you running a small and successful B2B construction company within a commercial environment still searching for the right strategy to scale-up?

The Business Growth Hub has launched its new fully-funded Building4Growth programme, delivered in collaboration with Oldham Council and CITB, to support SME construction businesses in Oldham.

We aim to help business leaders make that step-change and explore new areas of development, with a focus on winning new commercial contracts and increasing workforce capacity, so they can grow into their next phase.

Businesses who qualify for Building4Growth will receive input from a specialist consultancy with an outstanding track-record of working within the construction sector to support growth, new work opportunities and leadership.

The Building4Growth programme initial launch is exclusively for Oldham-based businesses

Please note - Attendance on all 5 of the workshops is compulsory as is a pre programme 1 to 1 meeting to discuss your business growth needs with one of our Advisors

 

Some of the things we will cover and you will gain:

  • A wide range of methods and tips to make you the best possible leader
  • Solutions to increase the capacity of your business to win new work
  • How to be a better networker and get your name out there
  • Tips and methods for accessing supply chains
  • Exploration and simplification of the Tendering Process
  • How to become better tender ready
  • Access to coaches and mentors to give ongoing support

The workshop element of the programme will be delivered on the below dates in the Oldham area. Coaching and Mentoring will be arranged to suit you

Week 1  Thursday 2nd November – Leadership in Construction: 08.00 – 11.00am. Addressing the challenges of leading a growing construction business;  being an industry expert, a manager, a leader and business developer.  This workshop will help you to focus on your role as a strategic leader within this multi faceted  sector. By the end of the session you will have started to build a leadership profile and plan..

Week 2 Thursday 16th November -- Building Capacity and Winning Contracts: 08.00 – 12.00pm. Gearing your business up to meet contractual requirements  and  exploring ways to build  the capacity within your company  to enable you to become more ambitious and competitive. This workshop will help you focus on how to get your business in shape to win new work and will also explore staffing, recruitment and skills.

Week 3 Thursday 23rd November – Bridging the divide between Construction & Innovation: 08.00 – 11.00am.  An introduction to creative thinking and exploration of the impact Innovation can have on business growth plans. Participants will be introduced to idea generation techniques and how to put them into practice. Each company will be allocated a dedicated Innovation Advisor to take their ideas forward, explore further innovation opportunities within their own business and apply for funding/Innovation vouchers if appropriate

Week 4 Thursday 7th December – Communicating the Right Message: 08.00 – 11.00am. An exploration of communication strategies both internally and externally - with staff, suppliers, contractors, clients and stakeholders in the most effective ways. Part of this workshop will also explore other funding opportunities

Week 5 Tuesday 12th December – Pitch Perfect Tendering: 9.00am – 4pm. A thorough exploration of tendering for construction contracts, the differences between various tiers, the importance of social value and social inclusion – there will be an opportunity for further mentoring following on from this workshop as well as specific advice on environmental considerations.

 

Each participant will be given access to 2 coaching sessions to support the implementation of learning into their own individual business after the 5 workshops.

 

The Participant Experience
Participants will form part of a learning group and will be encouraged and stimulated to challenge themselves.

Using a blend of theory, interactive group exercises, reflective and collaborative learning and case studies, we will look at a combination of skills and behaviours designed to increase confidence and effectiveness as a business leader within the construction industry.

ELIGIBILITY
Businesses that have previously accessed support from Business Growth Hub may not be eligible.  This programme is only open to Oldham based businesses. Please express your interest below and an advisor will be in touch to talk through your options.
