The Growth Company, in partnership with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority and delivery Partners has launched EmployGM, a new service aiming to keep people and businesses of Greater Manchester working, whilst supporting sectors exhibiting increased worker demand such as healthcare and retail.

The new service will connect employers with urgent temporary vacancies and match them with individuals immediately available to carry out the work, whilst also providing volunteering, learning or training opportunities for furloughed staff.

This will ensure businesses can respond effectively to the increasing demand for particular goods and services due to the pandemic and subsequent rise in demand for roles such as health and social workers, supermarket staff, delivery drivers and food manufacturing and production operatives. At the same time, the service will enable individuals who have been made redundant due to COVID-19, as well as self-employed people who have registered a significant drop in work, secure alternative work opportunities, as well as access careers advice and training.
