A2F provides passport for growth

Overview:

Salford-based Invasion Corp was founded in 2008 with the purpose of organising memorable travel experiences.

Invasion Corp has a global presence across a range of sectors including travel, recruitment, promotions, holidays and charity.

The challenge:

Invasion Corp works with universities and other organisations, developing relationships with internal bodies such as student unions and societies to promote group travel amongst their students.

Having out-grown their existing premises in Salford, Invasion Corp needed bigger offices primarily so that they could expand their marketing team, which director Nick Steiert saw as crucial to the business’s growth plans.

The company had worked with the Hub’s access to finance specialists before, and approached the team for further support in finding the funding they needed. There was also a need to improve their cash flow in the short term, so they could take on the new employees needed to support the company’s growth.

The solution:

Over a three month period the Hub’s specialists worked with Nick and his team to help them to develop a new business plan and financial forecasts, as well as helping them to formalise their growth objectives and organising meetings with potential new funders.

The support helped the company to raise the £192,000 it needed to purchase a new property in Salford via a loan from HSBC Bank. A further loan of £49,000 was raised through the Hub’s sister company, Business Finance Solutions (BFS) which supported the company’s immediate cash flow needs and led to the recruitment of seven new employees.

The company also attended a number of the Hub’s masterclasses covering a range of topics from digital marketing to employment law and tendering for new business.

“Over the next five years we’re looking to expand outside of the student demographic,” explains Nick.

“We want to develop an online travel portal which has a much wider appeal, with strong content, destination guides and regular travel blogs. The support from the Hub has now set this plan into motion.

"We look forward to continue working with the Hub’s other support services as Invasion Corp expands and as it hosts other growing businesses in the newly launched premises at the Foundry," he continues.

“Our new premises provide a funky co-working space for other businesses looking to benefit not just from the creative working space, but from being around other innovative businesses.”

Philip Hargreaves, head of access to finance at the Hub, adds: “This is a great example of how we can help businesses find the capital they need to develop and create local jobs. The new premises have allowed Invasion Corp to expand, employ new staff and to move into new markets which will help the business to grow and prosper.”
