Beaumont Organic, a sustainable fashion brand, acts to enter next stage of growth

Launched in 2008, Beaumont Organic is a premium, sustainable fashion brand for both wholesale and retail markets, featuring GOTS certified organic cotton, alongside other sustainable and eco-fabrics. Sustainably produced and ethically made in Europe, the collection includes womenswear, baby wear, homeware and accessories.

GC Business Hub (Hub) undertook an initial eligibility and business diagnostic meeting with Beaumont Organic. This was conducted by People, Skills & Talent advisor Debbie Jackson with founder-director Hannah Beaumont-Laurencia, and through this it was identified that Hannah would benefit from guidance, practical tips and techniques to develop as a more effective and confident leader in the workplace.

Part funded by the European Regional Development Fund, the business was matched with Executive Development Programme (EDP) provider The HR Dept. Hannah attended four workshops in May 2021 to complete the intensive ‘People Strategy’ training programme. This EDP programme is designed to support business owners to become more influential and effective leaders and who will lead others in the business with managerial responsibilities.

As a small but growing SME, Beaumont Organics’ turnover has increased from £500k to £940k over three years. By 2021, it was at a stage in its growth where it needed to build back-office capacity and capability to support both UK and international sales growth.

The Executive Development programme has provided the company with the funding and tools to do this and allowed Hannah to increase her focus on strategically leading both B2B and B2C aspects of the business. This resulted in reviewing recruitment processes to grow the operations team. In August 2021, an Operations Assistant was appointed to focus on B2C customers reporting to the Operations Manager, Claudia. This allowed Claudia to focus on B2B business and shipments from factories in Portugal to UK Distribution Centres requiring complex customs documentation.

Claudia has also accessed the BGH Mentoring Programme and has found the guidance of a mentor beneficial with the support required to develop a junior member of the team.

The provision of leadership training has been an important milestone for our organisation and therefore the support we have received from GC Business Growth Hub has enabled us to move forward with our growth plans. We highly value the impact of the support provided by GC Business Growth Hub and look forward to continuing our relationship with the Hub in the future.”
