Greater Manchester has the joint largest number of tech entrepreneurs outside of London invited to join the Silicon Valley Comes to the UK (SVC2UK) summit

Greater Manchester has the joint largest number of technological entrepreneurs outside of London invited to join the Silicon Valley Comes to the UK (SVC2UK) summit. Leading entrepreneurs, investors, and global thought leaders in technology from the US and UK will join in this prestigious event.

During the event, they will discuss international scaling and collaboration, the game-changing ideas of the future and the role technology can play in solving some of the most significant challenges of our time.

Taking place from 8 to 10 November 2022 in London, UK, the 2022 SVC2UK summit is one of the most important platforms for the tech community to join together and explore the opportunities for collaboration, with the aim to expand to the US and International markets. Founders and CEOs of some of the fastest-growing UK scale-ups will discuss their scaling challenges, goals, and expansion plans with each other and esteemed thought leaders and mentors. Five representatives of technology companies from Greater Manchester attended this year’s event, making Greater Manchester, together with Edinburgh and Birmingham, one of the areas outside London with the largest number of representatives in the event. Those five companies are:

  • BankiFi - financial software targeted at SMEs for invoicing, payments, accounting and cash forecasting
  • Collctiv - group payment app that allows friends, families, businesses, charities, and community groups to collect and spend money
  • Inovus Medical - design and manufacture of surgical training technologies to improve surgical care through connected training
  • PollenPay - a payments company that enables consumers to purchase products on a “Buy now, pay later” basis as an alternative to traditional credit
  • RelaxMyDog - as “the Netflix for pets,” the company makes relaxing music tv content which is used by 50 million pets around the world

Greater Manchester is home to 19,000 digital, creative and tech companies, with 156,000 people working in creative and digital roles across the North West. It has contributed £6.5bn in direct regional gross value added (GVA), making the region the highest-performing creative cluster outside of London. Collctiv, Inovus Medical and PollenPay have joined the Global Scale-Up programme offered by the Growth Company’s Business Growth Hub, which provides holistic support for businesses with the ambition to grow globally. Those companies who joined the programme will have access to global experts, the latest international growth tools, global market opportunities and an exclusive peer-to-peer network of companies who have scaled their businesses globally. These can be crucial to the scale-ups to cope with the top three barriers to growth by expanding into new international markets, attracting the right talent, and finding the necessary funding to support business growth.

“The US market, with our shared language and cultural similarities, made this a priority market for us to expand into, and we believe this provides the next phase of rapid growth for our company,” said Amy Whitell, Co-Founder and CEO of Collctiv. “The digital payments space in the US is fragmented and dominated by P2P players who all cater for single peer-to-peer transactions. It is a huge market that is underserved by the current solutions on the market, and our solution helps to solve a real day-to-day problem, making it easier for groups to collect and spend money. We are excited to bring our successful solution in the UK to the US and across the globe.”

At Growth Company, we believe that with the right support and funding, the world has never been more accessible for Greater Manchester’s DCT businesses, and the sky is the only limit for your company to grow and expand.
