Mike Newman dreamed of becoming a racing driver. But unlike most with this dream, he had one hurdle to overcome that others don’t. Mike is completely blind. 

Rather than giving up on his dreams, Mike embarked on what has been an astonishing journey. He's the world’s fastest recorded blind man, setting the land speed record of 204mph, as well as many other Guinness land/air/sea records. 

In 2012 Mike co-founded Speed of Sight. Based in Swinton, they provide unique life-changing driving experiences for people with disabilities.

Looking to raise the profile of the business, Mike started working with the Hub, engaging with the Mentoring team which has led to an ongoing relationship with the Growth Hub. Helping Mike make significant new contacts, as well as tapping into our expertise has contributed to the growth of the business.
