Case Studies: Clarion Security Systems

Overview:

Chris Billinge, MD of Audenshaw-based Clarion Security Systems set the company up in 1996 and since then the business has grown steadily, employing over 30 people and enjoying a healthy turnover installing a variety of security systems such as CCTV, access control and intruder alarm systems.

The challenge:

Despite investing in a new website, and enjoying great customer retention, Chris stated that the company wasn’t winning the level of new customers it wanted.

The solution:

Chris contacted the Business Growth Hub and met with digital growth advisor Rob Sethna. “We knew that simply putting more pages on the site wasn’t going to work,” explains Chris, “and Rob was quick to suggest we needed to adopt a more strategic approach, updating the site regularly with a stream of new content.”

 

Chris set up a dedicated marketing department within the business, whose key aim is to keep refreshing the site with news stories and blog posts, as well as launching a Facebook page and sending out regular tweets.

 

“We’re a technology based business, so digital skills are important to us,” says Chris. “We’re already beginning to see the benefits of the changes, with more enquiries coming in, and we’re also starting to use You Tube clips so that we can post demonstration videos on the site which show our customers exactly what the products we install can do.

 

“What’s also great is that the staff have embraced the changes and they now see the website as important part of the way in which the company engages with its customers.”
